Norman Gobbi was elected to the Council of State on April 10, 2011 and took over the direction of the Department of Institutions. He was reconfirmed in his role in 2015 and 2019, when he was re-elected for his third term in government.

Married and father of two children, he was born in Faido on 23 March 1977 and raised in Leventina, where he currently resides.

After having obtained his scientific high school diploma at the Bellinzona cantonal high school, in 2007 he graduated in Communication Sciences - business and institutional address - at the University of Lugano of Switzerland. In parallel with his studies, he embarked on a job as a consultant in communication and marketing.

He represents the Ticino government in the Conference of Cantonal Governments and sits on the Steering Committee (CGC - www.kdk.ch).

He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Conference of Directors of the Cantonal Departments of Justice and Police (CDDGP-www.kkjpd.ch), as well as of the Government Conference of the Cantonal Directors of the Military, Civil Protection and Fire Brigade (RK MZF-www.rkmzf .ch).

In 2018 he chaired the Political Platform of the Integrated Swiss Security Network (SVS) and in 2021 he was re-elected as the Presidency of the Regio Insubrica Working Community (www.regioinsubrica.org).
